Star Treeeeeek

You know, I've always wanted to see a Star Trek series/episode/movie/something set outside of the Federation. Something about a crew of rogue traders out to make some quatloos by any means necessary, who skirt the law, run illicit goods through the neutral zone and just get by on the skin of their teeth. All of the action without that pseudo-utopian bullshit that Star Trek always tries to wax philosophical on. Basically, take Firefly and put it in the Star Trek universe. I guess that's why I liked Firefly so much. It was like seeing the Star Trek story I've always wanted to see.

The new movie kind of looks like what I've wanted to see in Trek. A bit of grit without turning into Sin City In Space.
