Katrina and I are now officially engaged, like with a ring and everything. I asked her at Otakon because that's where we met in person for the first time.
I wish that I could codify the things I feel for Katrina and put them into words, but no word is perfect enough to describe it. Love is as good a word as any in that case, but compared to what I feel, the word love falls short. As a writer, that hurts my pride just a little bit. I take pride in my ability to communicate ideas and emotions. I am, as many have been, humbled by the power of love. It is a comfort that no writer in history has ever captured the feeling in a perfect word, and no writer ever will.
So, Katrina, I want you to know that every time I say that I love you, it is always with an asterisk. And that asterisk denotes that love is a proxy for a word that is so perfect, no human mind can comprehend it. It is a word that describes a feeling that only you make me feel.
